The duration is 8-12 months. NQF Level 2. This is also offered as short courses by Unit Standard.
Learn to:
• Apply pest control practices in ornamental plant production and landscaping.
• Conduct post harvest treatment of cut roses.
• Create an awareness of environmental protection.
• Develop the cut rose frame Demonstrate an understanding of a flowering plant's reproductive cycle.
• Establish an area of turf with grass sods.
• Learn to identify common ornamental plants.
• Excavate irrigation trenches in established landscapes.
• Identify the different organisms of the plant kingdom.
• Handle floristry plant material.
• Identify the various soil types and their uses in plant propagation and landscaping.
• Harvest cut roses.
• Plant and establish herbaceous plants in landscaped areas.
• Install irrigation piping in trenches.
• Propagate plants from stem cuttings.
• Install irrigation sprinklers and emitters.
